Paul Thornton, OBE
Paul is Managing Director of the Pensions Advisory team at Gazelle Corporate Finance Limited, a non-executive director of BGI Pensions Management Limited and a member of the independent With Profits Committee of Prudential Assurance. In May 2007 he provided an independent report to the Minister for Pensions Reform on a review of nine Government sponsored pensions institutions. He was Senior Partner of Watson Wyatt LLP from May 2001 until July 2005 and scheme actuary to the BT Pension Scheme, the largest private sector pension fund in the UK with more than £38 billion in assets under management. He has spoken on behalf of the International Actuarial Association at OECD and World Bank conferences. Paul was President of the Institute of Actuaries from July 1998 to July 2000. He was also Chairman of the Pensions Committee of the Groupe Consultatif Actuariel Europeen, Chairman of the Committee of the International Actuarial Association dealing with pensions and employee benefits and also received a President’s Award from the Society of Actuaries in the USA in 1999 for his contribution to international co-operation in the actuarial profession. He holds a degree in Mathematics from Oxford University.
Sir Bob Reid
Sir Bob is Chairman of the board of ICE (IntercontinentalExchange) Futures, a non-executive director of Diligenta Limited, a provider of business process outsourcing to the UK life & pensions industry and a non-executive director of CHC Helicopter Corporation. He served as Chairman and Chief Executive of Shell UK from 1985 to 1990. He also served as Chairman of the British Railways Board, London Electricity, Avis Europe, British-Borneo Oil and Gas plc, The Council of the Industrial Society and Sears plc. From 1997 to 2004 he served as Deputy Governor of the Bank of Scotland. He was also a non-executive director of HBOS plc, Sun Life Financial Services of Canada and Siemens Holdings plc. He holds a degree in Political Economy and Modern History from St Andrew's University.
Alan Morgan
Alan is President of Olivant, an investment company focused on opportunities in financial services. Alan was previously at McKinsey & Company for 28 years and was a senior partner for the last 15 years. He built the Firm’s financial institutions practices in several jurisdictions and was one of a small number of senior partners supervising the McKinsey Investment Office, which manages over $4 billion of employee investments and retirement plans. He is also an experienced venture capital investor. He holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a degree in Law from Oxford University.
